The UTAS Science Communicators Society

The University of Tasmania's first Science Communicators Society will be established.

These student leaders will work with science experts and local educators to develop a cohesive workshop series, aimed at training young scientists to become facilitators.

02.

Science Communication Workshops

Through a series of workshops, the UTAS Science Communicators Society will offer training sessions led by science communication experts.

These workshops will enable university students to develop skills in effective science communication, public speaking, and workshop facilitation.

03.

Community Climate Education

Trained student facilitators will put their science communication skills to the test by running a series of free workshops for high school students and youth groups.

These workshops will focus on engaging young people in Hobart’s climate and ocean science.

PROJECT STAGES

Building the next generation of engaging science communicators through hands-on, engaging trainings and skill building

PURPOSE

If we want the next generation to be able to take action on climate, we need them to be able to compellingly communicate their knowledge with a tone of optimism, especially in a world of short form content, climate anxiety and misinformation.
